PETALING JAYA, Jan 5 – NAZA Premira Sdn Bhd, the sole distributor of Vespa scooters in Malaysia, plans to expand its dealership network by opening five 3S centres throughout Malaysia with an investment estimated at about RM5 million.
NAZA Group Joint Executive Chairman Datuk Wira SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin said the 3S centre in Penang is scheduled to open in the first quarter of this year. Johor, Terengganu, Kelantan and Sarawak will follow in the second half.
“Expansion of the brand in Malaysia is in line with the company’s target of selling between 2,000 to 3,000 units of Vespa bikes this year, compared to the 1,000 units in 2012,” he told reporters at the launch of the Vespa LX150 Apple Edition here today.
Also present was Naza Group two-wheel division Vice-President Nik Danial Nik Mahmood and Naza Premira Acting Head, Terrence Duncan. SM Faisal said the company also planned to unveil another model in September
this year, adding to the two existing models, the GTV300 and LX150. For interested customers, he said the company also provided an internal financing service through its subsidiary, NAZA Credit and Leasing Sdn Bhd.
On the Vespa LX150 Apple Edition, he said the model’s concept is taken from the memorable Vespa advertising campaign, first made popular in Italy in 1969.
He said the variant is a collector’s item with only 168 units available, and priced at RM11,388 (on-the-road). SM Faisal said in conjunction with Chinese new year, the company is offering limited units of the LX150 standard edition at a promotional price of RM8,888 – normally RM10,241 – until Feb 28.
