KUALA LUMPUR, July 25- Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nancy Shukri has conveyed appreciation to various parties over the rescue of her son and his two friends who were involved in a light aircraft crash in the Strait of Melaka Tuesday.
She expressed gratitude to Melaka Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Mohd Khalil Yaakob, Chief Minister Datuk Idris Haron, police, fire and rescue department, search and rescue team, Melaka Hospital and other related parties.
In the incident, Nancy’s son, assistant pilot Faeroz Kamil, 27, pilot Captain Sharron Yee, 27, and Soh Hsien Shoong, 22, were undergoing flight training when the crash occurred.
The Piper PA-28 aircraft from the Malaysian Flying Academy left the Melaka International Airport in Batu Berendam at 7.30pm before crashing at 8.18pm.
In a statementWednesday, Nancy said: “Personally, I would like to convey my gratitude to Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Idris Haron who visited the victims in the hospital and gave me the opportunity to speak to my son by telephone”.
She said she was thankful the three victims were safe and only sustained minor injuries.
