MELAKA, July 25 – Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Idris Haron was today awarded ‘The Global Leader in Humanitarian Service’ medal by Lions Clubs International for his services in developing the youths around the world.
Lions Clubs International president Barry J Palmer said Idris, who is also the World Assembly of Youth president, was an examplary leader for all the youths around the world.
“We want more leaders like Idris in the world who recognise the importance of developing our young people for the future of our world, in producing a better world in the future.
“We will work together with him in his effort to develop the youth and also developing Melaka as the best place to live for the people,” he said at the conferment ceremony in Seri Negeri, here today.
Palmer presented the distinguished medal to Idris in a ceremony which was also attended by Lions Clubs Global Membership Area Leader, Datuk Dr K Nagaratnam.
Idris, in his acceptance speech, thanked the Lions Clubs International for the medal and pledged to continue his work in developing the youths around the world.
Lions Clubs International is an organisation with more than 1.35 million members and more than 46,000 clubs around the world to make the world a better place for people to live in with vast activities ranging from giving eyeglasses for children to giving food for the less fortunate.
