SEPT 4- Popular for their opulence and blingy designs, designer duo Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor recently showcased their couture collection, ‘ Jamawar Aria’ at Hotel Eros, New Delhi.
Like many designers who have taken to the Mughal Era as their inspiration, Kapoors followed suit and presented a line dominant of voluminous lehengas, embroidered saris, bejewelled bustiers, flamboyant anarkali s and rich sherwani s.
Adding to the glam quotient of the evening was Bollywood beauty Bipasha Basu who looked beautiful in a blush pink lehenga as she walked the ramp. With an appearance made last year as the finale model for the designers at the Aamby Valley Bridal Week, Bips seems a favourite of the designer couple. While the showstopper outfit wasn’t anything extraordinary, the lavish traditional jewellery backed it up.
The couture line displayed an array of tones such as pinks, reds, peaches and blues, detailed with Swarovski, interesting cuts, ruffles, thread work and feathers.
Besides the garments, it’s the accessories that are making news at various fashion showcases.
Playing on the trend, the designers created edgy laser- cut metallic belts to be worn over Indian outfits. The biggies might have given the event a skip, but regulars from the Capital’s social scene made it to the show.
