KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13- MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel wants his deputy, Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam to be retained unopposed in the national-level party elections scheduled for December.
Palanivel, who had won the party presidency unopposed when nominations closed on Sept 1, had earlier said that he would not contest the president’s post in 2016.
Instead, he said, Dr Subramaniam, who is also health minister, would be nominated for the post.
In a statement here Thursday, Palanivel, who is natural resources and environment minister, said there would be a contest for the three posts of vice-president (VP).
He said there might be more than three contestants for the VP posts while the posts of 23 central working committee members would also see a contest.
