KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 19- The Retired Armed Forces Officers’ Association (Rafoc) backs the government’s decision not to allow the body of Chin Peng, the former leader of the Communist Party of Malaya, from being brought home to Malaysia.
Its president, General (Rtd) Tan Sri Mohd Ghazali Mohd Seth said they were concerned over certain parties appeal to the government to allow Chin Peng’s body to be buried here.
“We have been involved in the war against the communists from 1948 to 1960. We strongly oppose Chin Peng’s body being brought to this country for burial,” he said in a statement Wednesday.
He said Chin Peng was responsible for the death of thousands of security personnel and people who tried to defend the country’s sovereignty.
Chin Peng, who lived in exile in Thailand, died in a hospital in Bangkok on Monday due to old age.
