KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 28 – Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) has identified a candidate as president-director of its PT Bank Internasional Indonesia (BII) and will make an announcement next week.
Maybank Presiden/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Datuk Abdul Farid Alias, however, declined to elaborate.
“We have to inform the Indonesian Central Bank on the successor before we announce it to the public,” he told reporters after the launch of Maybank Global CR (Corporate Responsibility) Day here Saturday.
On Sept 4, the President-Director of BII, Datuk Khairussaleh Ramli, resigned to return to Malaysia for personal reasons.
On the successor to Tengku Datuk Zafrul Tengku Aziz, who has resigned as the Maybank Investment Bank Chief Executive Officer, Farid said the bank was currently in the midst of screening potential candidates.
“What’s important now is to find the head of global banking. We hope to be able to make that decision quickly but we need time to go along with that process,” he said.
Farid was head of global banking since July 2010, and later after being promoted as the CEO for Maybank last August, Zafrul has taken over the responsibilities for that position.
Meanwhile, some 21,000 Maybank employees worldwide participated in the event, involving themselves in some 90 community initiatives.
For this event, its Community Financial Services has raised over RM32,000, to be used for internal projects for three selected integrated schools, three special-needs schools and one non-government organisation.
