Kuala Lumpur – Thirty non- Muslim couples in the city have taken advantage of the special date of Oct, 11, 2013, (11/12/13) to register for marriage Wednesday.

In fact, some of them had booked the date for their marriage registration day since June.

Kuala Lumpur National Registration Department (NRD) director Norehan Abdullah told a press conference today that six of the couples were from Putrajaya and Selangor.

Bernama checks found that the department’s office in Jalan Duta was congested since 8 am with cars carrying the brides and grooms, as well as their entourages.

A mechanic, S.Navindren, 30, and his bride, S.Kasthury, 30, said they chose to register their marriage today as the date was unique.

“We have been waiting for this date to register our marriage,” he said.

For K.Krisha, 26, the date was not only beautiful, but also easy to remember.

“This special date only happens once in a century, that is why I decided to get married today,” he said.

Businessman Chua Kwee Lim, 35, who is tying the knot with a bank officer, Yap Mong Theng, 23, said the main reason for him to choose that date was because he wanted the most special event in his life to be held on a very special day.

The marriage registration for all the couples was done by Senior Registration Assistant Ramani Iyapillai.

Apart from the department’s office in Jalan Duta, two other couples also registered for marriage at the NRD office in Wangsa Maju, Pudu UTC (11 couples) and Taman Maluri (six couples).

Prior to this, special dates of Oct 10, 2010 (10/10/10), Nov 11, 2011 (11/11/11) and Dec 12, 2012 (12/12/12) had also become the preferred date for couples to get married.
