Kuala Lumpur, Feb 5 – Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as its election director for the yet to be announced Kajang by-election.
Its secretary-general Datuk Saifuddin Nasution said PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin had been appointed as his deputy while Borhan Aman Shah, a member of the party’s Selangor Elections Committee, as the director of operations.
“With these appointments, we expect our election machinery for the by-election to run smoothly,” he said in a statement here Tuesday.
The state seat in Selangor fell vacant following the resignation of its incumbent, Lee Chin Cheh, from PKR, on Jan 27.
PKR has announced that opposition leader and the party’s de facto head Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as its candidate.
The Election Commission is scheduled to meet tomorrow regarding the vacancy.
