Singapore, March 25 – Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has said he is deeply saddened to hear news about the tragic fate of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370.
For more than two weeks, we have been hoping against hope that somehow the worst did not happen. We know how anguished and desperate the families and friends of those on board felt,” the prime minister said in his Facebook posting on Monday night.
While we are still far from understanding what happened, I hope this latest news will nonetheless give some certainty and closure.
My deepest sympathies and condolences to the families and friends of those on board, and to the governments of Malaysia and China,” Lee added.
Earlier, at news conference on Monday night, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak announced that the flight path of the missing jetliner ended in the southern Indian Ocean.
The Beijing-bound Boeing 777-200ER aircraft, with 227 passengers and 12 crew on board, disappeared about an hour after leaving the KL International Airport at 12.41 am on March 8. It was scheduled to arrive in Beijing at 6.30 am (Malaysian time) on the same day.
