In an exclusive interview given to a Gujarati news channel in Ahmedabad on Saturday, Modi said that the issue of bringing Dawood back was not a matter to be discussed openly in the media. Giving the example of killing of Osama bin Laden by the US forces, the BJP strongman said, “Did the US held a press conference before carrying out the Abbottabad raid?”

Earlier this year, Shinde had admitted that India and the US were working together to make an effort to bring back Dawood Ibrahim who was said to be residing in Pakistan. “We’re working closely with the FBI and trying our best to bring Dawood back home,” Shinde had said.

Reacting to Modi’s slamming of Shinde, Finance Minister P Chidambaram hit back at the Gujarat Chief Minister asking about his plan to bring the fugitive don back.

“How do you get a person who is being protected by another government? We can’t indulge in a clandestine activity. How does Modi plan to do this?” he asked.

The underworld don is believed by security agencies to live in Karachi. However, in an exclusive interview with Mail Today, fugitive gangster Chhota Rajan said Dawood lived in the Gulf region now contrary to what Indian Intelligence believes.
