Tensions escalate in Eastern Ukraine

Ukraine, May 18 – Armed pro-Russian militants move to positions as they have skirmish against Ukrainian soldiers outside Slovyansk, yesterday.

A second round of negotiations among Ukrainian political and civil groups was also held yesterday in the eastern city of Kharkiv.

Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Interior Minister Arsen Avakov were in attendance, as well as Leonid Kravchuk and Leonid Kuchma, the first and second presidents of Ukraine after its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, along with business and religious leaders.
