Chennai, August 13 – Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) supremo J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the unanimous election of her party’s MP M Thambidurai as Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha.
Jayalalithaa spoke to Modi over the phone and and ˜Thanked him for his support in ensuring the unanimous election of Thambidurai as Deputy Speaker, a state government release stated.
She has also sent a letter to the Prime Minister in this regard, it added.
67-year-old Thambidurai, leader of the AIADMK Parliamentary Party, was elected to the post for the second time, after a motion, moved by Home Minister Rajnath Singh and seconded by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj supporting him, was carried by voice vote amid thumping of desks from all sides.
