KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 15- Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd’s wholly-owned unit, Astro Productions Sdn Bhd (APSB), is collaborating with Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios Sdn Bhd (IMS) to offer integrated television content production services at Pinewood Iskandar Malaysia Studios (PIMS).
Under the five-year agreement, IMS has appointed APSB as the provider of equipment and services for production of television content at its two television studios, Pinewood said in a statement.
“In return, APSB is committed to undertake a minimum of 4,500 hours of production per annum at PIMS in the first two years and 3,000 hours of production per annum from the third year onwards,” it said.
Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (Astro) Chief Executive Officer Datuk Rohana Rozhan said Astro was a firm believer that Malaysia and Malaysians should be a creative force to be reckoned with, not only in the region but also globally.
“This collaboration brings together Pinewood Iskandar, the Malaysian government through Malaysian CMC, Malaysian talents, local and global producers, and Astro with the common objective of producing exceptional television,” she said at the signing of the agreement.
The ceremony was witnessed by Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek here Thursday. PIMS Chief Executive Officer Rezal A. Rahman meanwhile said the collaboration would provide an opportunity to establish a world-class production facility that could be used by local and regional producers.
According to him, PIMS aimed to spur the development of a conducive creative ecosystem that is suitable and committed in supporting the development of creative content to increase the talent skills of the industry in Iskandar Malaysia.
The collaboration will ensure full production services covering multi cameras, high-definition cameras, sophisticated lighting and audio system, and outdoor broadcast truck. “We are capable of supplying high-quality production to regional and international producers,” said Rezal.
