Tan-Sri-Muhyiddin-Yassin1VIENTIANE, September 11 – Malaysia is willing to share its experience in economic management with Asean countries as the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) has shown good results. Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Malaysia’s economic growth of 6.4 per cent in second quarter of 2014 is among the best in the Asean region.

He said the high foreign investment in 2013 is in line with emphasis on investments by companies based on high technology knowledge. “Some people may say it is no nothing to be proud whereas the achievement is due to incentives given to investors not to mention stiff competition from other countries,” he said at a dinner with Malaysians in Laos, Wednesday night.

Muhyiddin, who is also Education Minister, is in Vientiane to attend the Asean Education Ministers (ASED) Meeting starting Thursday. He said it is time for Malaysia to ‘export’ its economic management skills and reminded Malaysian investors not to focus solely on making profit.

“We are prepared to share our experience in education not only with Asean members but also with other countries in the world.” Muhyiddin added the emphasis on English proficiency is to allow Malaysian students to explore new fields.

He also reminded Malaysians of the need to cooperate and enhance unity and harmony among the people. Also present were the deputy prime minister’s wife, Puan Sri Noorainee Abdul Rahman and the Malaysian Ambassador to Laos, Datuk Than Tai Hing.
