New Delhi, December 17 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called on President Pranab Mukherjee, who underwent a coronary angioplasty on Saturday at a hospital in New Delhi, to enquire about his health.
The Prime Minister drove straight from the airport on his return from Jammu, where he had gone for election campaign, to the Army Research and Referral Hospital and enquired from the doctors about the recovery of the 79-year-old President.
After presenting flowers to the President, Modi spent some time with Mukherjee who continues to be in the hospital for the fourth consecutive day. A brief statement from the PMO said the Prime Minister called on the President at the Army (Research and Referral) Hospital and inquired about his health.
The President was cheerful and doing some official work, official sources said. Doctors attending on the President at the Hospital, where a coronary stent was installed in one of Mukherjee’s arteries on Saturday to remove a blockage, have recommended that he should remain hospitalised as a precautionary measure, the sources said.
