MICPUTRAJAYA, Jan 16 — The battle to call for fresh MIC elections continues, with two former MIC leaders alleging fraud in the setting up of branches at eight divisions during the party election year of 2013.

The duo are former treasurer-general Datuk R. Ramanan and former youth chief Senator Datuk S. A. Vigneswaran who submitted evidence to the Registrar of Societies (ROS) yesterday, to facilitate investigations into alleged irregularities in that party election. They were seen carrying a black bag and file containing documents on the alleged irregularities, and complaint letters from eight division on the illegal establishment of almost 800 branches in that election year.

Speaking to reporters at the ROS office here, Vigneswaran said the eight divisions were Sepang, Subang (two divisions), Hulu Selangor, Petaling Jaya Selatan, Seremban, Kuala Langat and Serdang.

“These documents are to prove to the ROS that at the MIC election in 2013, there were not only a lot of irregularities but also a clear element of fraud,” he added.

On Dec 5, the ROS nullified the elections for the party’s three vice-presidents and 23 Central Working Committee (CWC) posts that were held during its general assembly in November 2013, and recommended a re-election within 90 days.
