New Delhi, January 23, – According to TV reports, the BJP government is mulling Padma awards for Legendary actors Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan, to be conferred on January 26. South superstar Rajinikant also figures in the list.
Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, script writer and lyricist Salim Khan and renowned ad film maker Prasoon Joshi’s names also figures in the list of probables for this year’s Padma awards.
Other eminent personalities from the world of art and culture, include A Kanyakumari (Carnatic violinist), Girija Devi (Hindustani vocalist), L Subramaniam (musician), Malini Awasthi (folk singer), Smriti Biswas (actor), Sudha Raghunathan (Carnatic vocalist), music directors Anu Malik and Ravindra Jain and Assamese film director Jahnu Barua.
Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan, the two tallest stalwarts of Hindi cinema, have worked together only once. They featured together in Ramesh Sippy’s Shakti.
A smouldering Amitabh Bachchan took on the histrionic range of Dilip Kumar to give cinema lovers one of the most watchable films of all times. They have both received the Padma Bhushan in 1991 and 2001, respectively.
