Festival of India 2015Kuala Lumpur, January 23 – The High Commission of India, Kuala Lumpur, for the first time, will be organising Festival of India in Malaysia, 2015 from mid-March till end-June 2015. The Festival would cover several cultural events and will showcase a veritable feast of culture and art.

Among the tentative list of events which will be organised during the Festival are Dance Drama, Bharatanatyam dance, Folk dances of Punjab and Gujarat, Digital India Exhibition, Bollywood Audio Visual Exhibition, Chola Temples, Islamic Art & Calligraphy, India-Malaysia Archives, Malayalam Film Festival, Mango Festival, education fair  and Seminar on Tradition Values in various cities of Malaysia.

This Festival is being held along with the Malaysian celebration of 2015 as the Year of Festivals – MYFEST 2015.

In announcing this today in a press conference in Kuala Lumpur, the High Commissioner of India T.S.Tirumurti (pic) also disclosed that they are working closely with the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) to organise the Festival of India in Malaysia.

Also present was the Deputy High Commissioner of India Dr. Acquino Vimal.

Trimurti also said the Festival of India would include every aspect of Indian culture and would incorporate cultural elements of all the different Indian races in Malaysia.

“A joint India-Malaysia Archival exhibition will be organized in several cities across Malaysia. A Malayalam Film Festival, a Food festival and commemorative event on International day of Yoga as well as Tamil Literary festival are also being planned” Trimurti said.

In addition to Kuala Lumpur, The festival is proposed to be held in Ipoh, George Town, Sungai Petani, Seremban, Melaka, Johore Bahru, Kota Bahru, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu.

This year, along with the Festival of India, the India High Commission is also celebrating the 5th Anniversary of Indian Cultural Centre located in Kuala Lumpur.

The Indian Cultural Centre is the cultural wing of High Commission of India.
