Philippines mulls lifting VISA requirements for Indians!

philippines_visa_types_and_requirementsNEW DELHI, February 6 –  The Philippine government is considering lifting visa requirements for Indians to boost tourist arrivals, Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

Phillippines’ Tourism Minister Ramon R Jimenez told Indian counterpart Mahesh Sharma here recently that this will be carried out on an experimental basis for the 2015-2016 period.

Jimenez highlighted connectivity challenges between the two countries and urged India to take it up on a priority basis. At their recent meeting, both sides discussed ways to promote two-way exchange in the tourism sector and other topics including infrastructure and hospitality and hotel management education.

Jimenez said the Philippines has much to offer in the area of human resource development thanks to the availability of many institutes of tourism, hospitality, restaurant and hotel management in his country.

Sharma highlighted recent steps taken by the Indian government to promote tourism like offering a visa-on-arrival facility and addressing cleanliness and security among other things.
