NewDelhi, February 17 – Director Shoojit Sircar who is busy with the post-production of Piku, has reportedly put on hold his period drama based on an Indian footballer, starring John Abraham. The film titled 1911 was announced few months back with much fanfare.
According to reports, the producers had planned to start the film in the latter half of 2015. But since it is a period film on Mohun Bagan’s historic win against an English football club in 1911, a lot of VFX will be involved. Thus the film will be delayed.
Adding woes to 1911, Shoojit is all set to start another movie, while John has given his dates to another project. Producer Ronnie Lahiri from Rising Sun Films told Mid-day,
“We are currently working on Piku after which we will put our heads together for the script of 1911 and prep up for it. Only then will the shooting dates be decided.”
Tghe film is based on Indian footballer Shiv Das Bhaduri who led Mohun Bagan in the historic IFA Shield final. John will play Bhaduri while Ayushmann Khurrana will be seen in a significant role.
