KIEV, March 5 – At least 32 people were killed in an explosion at the Zasyadlo mine in eastern Ukraine early Wednesday, said the Ukrainian parliament speaker.
The Emergency Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk people’s republic (DPR) said earlier that at least 14 people were injured in the blast, Xinhua news agency reported.
However, reports conflict in the number of miners trapped underground.
The Emergency Ministry said more than 70 miners were trapped in the mine and the explosion was a mixture of gas and air.
The Ukrainian Independent Union of Miners said 207 people were working underground at the time of the incident and 47 miners remain missing.
