SHAH ALAM, March 5- Shah Alam Barisan Nasional (BN) has started mobilising its machinery to meet voters at public focal points, especially the morning and night markets, to gain their suport in the upcoming 13th general election.
Its psychological warfare bureau chairman, Mohd Yusof Din said the effort began at the Section 18 “pasar malam” yesterday and would continue at other night markets as well as morning markets in the state capital throughout March. He said the programme was being carried out in collaboration with the information bureau, and also involved the Wanita, Youth and Puteri Umno wings, with all the participants moving in small groups.
“This involves meeting the voters face-to-face and mingling with them, and giving out stickers and pamphlets on the federal government’s efforts in helping the people such as the 1Malaysia programmes and aid that could be obtained,” he told reporters, here, last night.
Mohd Yusof said the public response in the first round last night was very encouraging.
“We hope the people will continue to accept BN and make the best choice in the upcoming elections, ” he said. The two state seats in the Shah Alam parliamentary constituency are Kota Anggerik and Batu Tiga. In the 2008 general election, BN lost in all three seats.
