Kuala Lumpur, May 24 – The controversial workshop on “Malaysian Indian Blueprint development”, ended today by about 2 pm attended by some 250 participants. Some of the participants who attended workshop told “Selliyal” that Datin Seri Kanagam (pic), wife of MIC President Dato Seri G.Palanivel attended and spoke at the workshop declaring “My husband is too busy and therefore I have taken the responsibility to organise this workshop by forming a core group of seven people, which includes me.”
She said those included in the core group of seven were K.Ramalingam (MIC Batu Division Chairman), Anbumani Balan (Political Secretary to G.Palanivel), Ron Rajen (representative of ‘Human Capital Group Asia’), Thayalan and Mottiyan. This group of seven people would be assisted by another group of some 30 people, she told the workshop.
Representatives of Human Capital Group, including key member Douglas Dean also spoke at the workshop stating that “they are merely assisting the organisers in formulating the Blueprint for Indians”.
“However, several MIC leaders especially all those politically aligned to Deputy President Datuk Seri Dr S.Subramaniam were completely left out in the forum” said one of the participants who declined to reveal his name.
“A Blueprint for the Indian community should be the first and foremost responsibility of the MIC President. It is shocking to know that the President is too busy even for this initiative. What else he is doing otherwise? Even if he is busy, such an important task should have been organised by the party’s Deputy President or the Vice Presidents or some of the CWC members” the participant further said.
The workshop was also told that it will be expanded to Northern, Southern and Central regions to include more voices and representations and the final blueprint is targeted to be ready by end of June this year.
“The whole workshop and the design and structure of it clearly show that it is intended to be a political platform for gatherings aimed at the forthcoming Presidential elections. Blueprint is something for the economists and professionals who understand the plight of the Indians. Why then you want to expand it to South and Northern regions?” commented one of the participants who is also a MIC member.
The workshop which has already stirred much controversies is expected to cause further debates in the coming days.
