Those who have been watching the steady progress of Hansika over the past two years haven’t missed noticing that she has, of late, become a pale version of her earlier self. No, we’re not discussing about any change in her almost pinkish complexion but about the size of her waistline in the past few months.
Hansika caters to the dreams and fantasies of every Tamil youth who want their dreamgirl neither to be of size-zero (like Bollywood heroines) nor of a rolly-polly kind. Sindhi girl Hansika is just ‘perfect’ and suits the tastes of the youths appropriately. This fact is reinforced by the fact that she is the leading heroine in Tamil and Telugu films put together with 7-8 films on hand.
Of late, though, she has shed most of the flab around her waist and has acquired a ‘near-perfect’ figure with a flat abdomen. This hasn’t gone down well with the producers and directors of the films in which she is starring in at present in Tamil. The filmmakers are bothered about the ‘continuity’ in sequences in these films as in some frames Hansika would look slightly plump and would look ultra-slim in other frames.
The other worrying factor is that not many in Tamil nadu prefer picture-perfect heroines and the filmmakers are wary of the huge amount of investments they have made in making all these films which are on floor at various stages of production. They are obviously peeved at Hansika’s ‘unilateral’ decision to shed flab without consulting with them or intimating them in advance about acquiring an hourglass figure.
Whatever happens, can Hansika ever remain out of contention vis-à-vis getting her fans’ attention?
