In welcoming Vijay Kumar Singh, Indian High Commissioner T.S.Tirumurti elaborated on the illustrious career of Vijay Kumar Singh in the Indian Army.

Vijay Kumar Singh was appointed as the 26th Chief of Army Staff in 2010 in a military career that spanned over more than 40 years.

“After his retirement from the army Vijay Kumar Singh joined BJP and contested in the 2014 general elections, in Ghaziabath constituency in Uttar Pradesh which had some 2.4 million voters and won with convincing majority “ Tirumurti noted in his welcome address.

Since becoming a minister, one of Vijay Kumar Singh’s notable achievements was to bring back more than 5,000 Indians stranded in war-torn Yemen and during the mission he himself flew 5 times to Yemen to oversee the military operations.

“This earned him praises from Prime Minister Modi himself who commented – this is the first time a minister has gone to the battlefield like a soldier-“ Tirumurti said.

In his speech Vijay Kumar Singh said he was proud to see the Indian Community doing so well in Malaysia. He pointed out that this is the first time in 30 years that a party has achieved absolute majority in Parliament and the BJP government is using this trust and mandate from people to bring about several changes in the lives of Indians in India.
