JAKARTA, March 15- Indonesia’s Parti Demokrat, which is founded the republic’s president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, will be holding an extraordinary general meeting soon to elect a new president but has been reported that Susilo’s wife Ibu Ani Yudhoyono and his son Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono (Ibas) would not be in the running for the post.
The party’s Advisory Council’s deputy head Marzuki Alie said Yudhoyono did not want the post to be filled by members of his family. The candidate, Marzuki told reporters here today would also not be a “parachute” candidate.
The post fell vacant after the incumbent, Anas Urbaningrum, recently resigned after he was named as a suspect by Indonesia’s Anti-Corruption Commission in a corruption case involving the construction of the Bukit Hambalang sports complex in Bogor. Yudhoyono currently is the head of the advisory council while Ibas is the party’s secretary-general.
Ibu Ani Yudhoyono, who is former deputy president of the party, or Ibas had been speculated would go for the post.
