KEMAMAN, March 18 – Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said(Pic) today asked the Terengganu Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council  (Maidam) to take stern action against any imam under its auspices found campaigning for the opposition.

Ahmad_Said (3)He said that this was because, being employed by the state government they should be loyal to the government of the day. He told this to reporters after handing over 1Malaysia People’s Aid (BR1M) to 820 eligible recipients from the Kijal constituency, here today. Last week, Maidam’s religious commissioner , Datuk Mohd Rozali Salleh had revealed that some of the imams were actively campaigning for the opposition in several districts in Terengganu like Besut and Kuala Terengganu “despite being on the state government’s payroll”.

Meanwhile, in BESUT, Farmers Organisations Authority director-general Datuk Arpan Shah told reporters that the authority would be providing ‘touch point’ aid to farmers tilling land below five acres throughout the country as called for by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
