GEORGE TOWN, March 19 – Malaysia Airlines (MAS) expects an increase of over 25 per cent in passengers and revenue collection from its services in Penang at the end of this year. Regional Senior Vice-President, Malaysia and Asean, Muzammil Mohamad said the expectations were based on its satisfactory achievements recorded last year for markets in the state.
“Last year, we succeeded in achieving a 17 per cent increase in revenue while the growth in passengers was at 16 per cent particularly in Penang, so this year we expect to achieve a 25 per cent increase in passengers and revenue collection,” he said.
He said this to reporters after the launch of the airline’s new ticketing office at the Penang International Airport by MAS Senior Vice-President, Sales and Distribution, Duncan Bureau, here today. The new ticket office, located near the departure hall covering 88 sq metres, is open daily including public holidays from 5.30 am to 10 pm.
Muzammil said with the opening of the new ticket office at a strategic location, it is capable of becoming an important medium from the distribution aspects, which is able to offer efficient and effective services to customers.
“The services that are offered will facilitate the customers to continue to deal with our one-stop centre to manage their travels every day, MAS offers 10 daily flights from Penang to Kuala Lumpur,” he said.
Besides that, he said among the facilities available at the new MAS ticket office are refund of flight tickets bought directly from the ticket office or via the Internet and flight insurance for customers.
