SHAH ALAM, March 19- Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Sdn Bhd (MBM) today sealed a deal to supply 466 Fuso Trucks to SWM Environment Sdn Bhd(SWM), the concessionaire for solid waste collection and waste management. Averaging at RM450,000 per unit, all 466 units would be delivered in batches by September.
“As SWM grows and expands its current fleet, we look for commercial vehicles that are technologically advanced and proven for their quality. We invest in products that enable a faster turnaround time for our services rendered.
“Fuso has been our truck chassis supplier of choice because its vehicle are reliable, durable and lower in cost of ownership which are suitable for our business,” said SWM’s Executive Director Dr Uzir Abdul Malik at a press conference after signing a sales and supply agreement here today.
Under the agreement, MBM would supply the chassis for the trucks which SWM will fit to various body superstructures ranging from compactors to road sweepers. The new fleet of green engine Euro 2 vehicles will enable SWM to mechanise task-oriented jobs and hasten turn-around time for waste collection and cleasing services.
Meanwhile, MBM Chief Executive Officer Roland S.Folger said upon completion of the supply of the 466 units sometime in September, SWM would have more than 900 Fuso trucks in its fleet.
“This is the largest fleet of Fuso trucks in one company worldwide,” he said.
Folger said supplying Fuso commercial vehicles was an integral part of MBM’s business and the company was proud to partner SWM as the main supplier for Fuso trucks for the last seven years.
