Two attacks involving several gunmen and a suicide bomber have rocked the Iranian capital Tehran, Iranian media reported on Wednesday.

At least three attackers stormed the Iranian parliament in the centre of the city.

Reports of casualties varied. Three people were injured, state broadcaster Press TV said on its Twitter feed, as it posted video and pictures from the scene.

Iranian news agency ISNA said men with machine guns had forced their way inside the building.

A parliamentary official told the IRNA news agency that one gunman had been arrested.

The main chamber of the parliament, called the Majlis, was shut as the attack took place, while police closed off the streets around the parliament building, Mehr news agency reported.

Tasnim news agency posted a picture of what it said was one of the attackers “shooting at forces” from the building.

Injuries were also reported at a simultaneous shooting and suicide attack in southern Tehran.

The incident took place at the tomb of Iran’s revolutionary leader, Ayatollah Khomeini.

The head of mausoleum’s public relations office, Ali Khalili, said one of the attackers had detonated their device in front of a bank outside the mausoleum, according to the IRNA news agency.

Three or four attackers were involved, the report said.
