LANGKAWI, March 27 – Kedah Umno Liaison Committee deputy chairman Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir said today that he preferred to defend his Jerlun parliamentary seat in the upcoming 13th general election.
“I don’t know yet…it is up to the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak). But my preference is to stand again in Jerlun. Whether it will be a parliamentary or state seat, it is really up to PM,” he said.
Mukhriz, who is also Jerlun MP and Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister, said this when asked which seat he was eyeing for in the election.
Rumours have been going around that he has been slated for a state seat this time around as he would likely be appointed Menteri Besar of Kedah should the Barisan Nasional wrest back the state from Pakatan Rakyat which is made up of PAS, DAP and PKR.
