Datuk Mukhriz MahathirALOR SETAR, March 29 – Kedah Barisan Nasional (BN) is confident that young voters in the state can be lured to support the BN in the 13th general election if they were given clear explanation about BN’s ability in ruling the country.  Kedah Umno Liaison Committee deputy chairman Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir( said in certain issues, the young voters had been deluged with too many information from various sources which would affect their decisions in the general election.

“Many of them have yet to decide (which party to support) and still sitting on the fence. They refuse to listen to just one side. It is our job to explain to them about those issues and build up their confidence to give their mandate to the BN. “If we say that the people’s support have returned to the BN, we may sound ‘syok sendiri’ (self-praise).

We have to work hard. Besides tackling the people’s issues such as housing, electricity, water, road, employment, welfare and assistance, some explanation work must also be done,” he told reporters after attending the Save Kedah Rally organised by Kedah BN Youth here last night.

He said although the young voters preferred to dig up information from the Internet, which sometimes can be full of lies and allegations, Kedah Umno believed that they would also like to hear some explanation from the BN.

“They know what we are doing. They want to know from us. Don’t think they are always emotional…they are rational. They can accept facts. These young minds are open to all information made available by all quarters.

They will collect all this information before making their decisions,” he said. Meanwhile, Mukhriz, who is Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister, said the BN was set to give tough competition to the opposition by fielding winnable candidates in the opposition’s strong fortress in the upcoming general election.

“Their white areas may not necessarily become our black areas. We will put winnable candidates there. We will work harder to win the people’s heart. BN will never up without a fight,” he added.
