Putra Jaya – Unity Minister in Prime Minister’s department P.Waytha Moorthy, has assured the Indian community that the Pakatan Harapan Ministers and the Selangor State government are working closely to find a solution to the Seafield Temple issue.
“I wish to reiterate that Pakatan Harapan Ministers and the Selangor EXCO are working closely to reach a speedy, amicable solution to the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman temple issue.
The tension created at the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman temple is currently being dealt with by both the federal and Selangor state government. The federal and state government are presently working closely towards resolving matters related to land and the administration of the temple” Waytha Moorthy said in a press statement released yesterday.
“There is general consensus, among the Malaysian Indian community, that both the competing chairmen of the said temple should be relieved of the management of the temple and a public oriented committee comprising of various legitimate stakeholders be set up to oversee the administration of the temple” Waytha Moorthy noted in his statement.
“It must also be noted that on Nov 29, 2018, the Attorney-General Tommy Thomas had said that he would be happy to meet the lawyers representing all the parties to resolve their dispute against the background of the power conferred on the office of the attorney-general in respect of charitable trusts under Section 9 of the Government Proceedings Act 1956” Waytha Moorthy said.
Waytha Moorthy also said “Malaysian Hindu Sangam’s proposal to act as a mediator in the temple issue at this stage would not be necessary as both the federal and state governments are already taking vital steps in safeguarding the interest of the temple”.
