1 April 2013-The Immigration and Emigration department announced SriLankans residing in the foreign countries are permitted to apply for the dual citizenship in month of August.
Director of the department Chulananda Perera announced government as implemented new laws in the dual citizenship process.
According to the director this new acts will help to prove the national security of the country. He further noted for the past 5 years Lankans residing in the western nations are waiting to obtain dual citizenship.
However military sources said by obtaining dual citizenship group of Lankans are willing to own lands in the Northern Province.
