KUALA LUMPUR, April 4 – The Incoming Buying Mission (IBM) recorded sales at the 10th International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) of RM411.32 million, up 9.87 per cent from last year. The IBM, which concluded on Tuesday, is a business meeting organised by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade).
In a statement, Matrade said this year’s IBM was attended by 353 buyers from 53 countries, with a total of 4,020 meetings organised between foreign buyers and 391 Malaysian companies.
“China tops the sales list accounting for 51.82 per cent of total sales generated, followed by Korea (7.55 per cent), Taiwan (7.05 per cent), Uzbekistan (4.68 per cent) and the United Arabs Emirates (3.55 per cent).
“Prepared food generated the most sales of over RM264 million, followed by beverages (RM49 million) and palm oil products (RM29 million) while pharmaceuticals, toiletries and cosmetics secured a total of RM24 million sales,” it said.
Matrade said the main products sourced by Chinese buyers were snacks, biscuits and sauces, while popular products among buyers from Uzbekistan were packaging products and containers.
