JAKARTA: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, arrived here Monday for a four-day state visit to Indonesia.
The special aircraft carrying the Malaysian King and the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, landed at the Halim Perdanakusuma International Airport at 11.20 am (12.20 pm Malaysian time).
Soon after arrival, Sultan Abdullah walked past a guard-of-honour mounted by 21 members of the Presidential Honour Guard.
Their Majesties were met on arrival by the Indonesian Minister of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration, Eko Putro Sandjojo, as the minister-in-attendance; the Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia Zainal Abidin Bakar and the Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Rusdi Kirana.
In the royal entourage were Minister of Economic Affairs Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali and officials from the Foreign Ministry, Istana Negara and Prime Minister’s Department.
It is Sultan Abdullah’s maiden visit to Indonesia after being officially installed as the 16th Yang di-Pertuan Agong on July 30.
The visit symbolises the strong friendship and relations between Malaysia and Indonesia and, hopefully, will further strengthen the bilateral ties of over the last 62 years.
Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah are scheduled to attend a tea reception with some 200 Malaysians here Monday afternoon.
Their Majesties are also scheduled to be accorded a state welcome on Tuesday. They will also attend a state banquet to be hosted by Indonesian President Joko Widodo and his wife Iriana Jokowi at Istana Bogor on Tuesday.
Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah are also scheduled to visit the Special Region of Yogyakarta and have an audience with the Sultan and Governor of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, and visit several historical sites there.
