Kuala Lumpur – Mr K.Veeramani, the President of Dravidar Kazhagam, Tamil Nadu, who will be in Kuala Lumpur this week-end to attend a wedding reception, was scheduled to deliver a public talk on Periyar E.V.Ramasamy on Sunday, 24th of November at the Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

The talk entitled “Periyar Ramasamy’s visits to Malaya and impact” was organised by India-Malaysia Heritage Group and Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre, High Commission of India.

A movie on Periyal titled “Periyar” was to be screened after Veeramani’s talk.

However, the event has been cancelled and it is believed that the cancellation was due to a memorandum submitted by Hindu NGOs calling themselves “National Coalition of Hindu NGOs and Temples of Malaysia”.

The said memorandum reads as follows:

TO: THE MALAYSIAN INDIAN HIGH COMMISSION’S OFFICE.

There is an advertisement for a public talk and movie screening about EV Ramasamy, known as Periyar to many. The talk will be given by none other than K Veeramani, the President of the Dravida Kazhagam. The event will be held at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Indian Cultural Centre of Kuala Lumpur, which is a property of the Government of India, and is paid for by India’s taxpayers, the vast majority of whom are Hindus.

In summary, the Government of India is hosting, promoting and sponsoring an event on a racist, anti-Hindu, anti-national, secessionist individual, who hated Hindus and Hindu culture with a passion and engaged in vandalism of Hindu temples, attacks on Hindu priests and Brahmins and encouraged missionaries to convert Hindus.
The event is to be presided by an individual who recently insulted Bhagavan Sri Krishna, and who works hand in hand with the opposition DMK party, which is rabidly anti-Hindu, racist and secessionist.

Is the current government of India no better than past ones, which always appeased everyone from racists, secessionists, terrorists, exploitative multinationals and colonial entities, while undermining Hindu culture, society and institutions? Why must Hindu taxpayers promote such an event instead of those events that protect and promote goodwill, unity and harmony.

What sort of message does the government of India wish to present to the world? That Hindus can be easily bullied?
We, the Hindus of Malaysia, are VERY FURIOUS of this event hosted and paid for by the Govt of India, which is currently led by a SO-CALLED Hindu Nationalist Party, the BJP!

We demand to know whether the event SANCTIONED by the above govt is TOTALLY appropriate for the BENEFIT of the Malaysian Indians, majority of whom are Hindus?

What is the OBJECTIVE of having this talk?

Who is BEHIND this event?

We demand answers to these queries ASAP.

If thus event is allowed to take place, there’ll be a protest on the day and venue and later at the Indian High Commission on another date.

Thank you.

National Coalition of Hindu NGOs and Temples of Malaysia.
