KUALA LUMPUR, April 26- Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said it is not impossible for Barisan Nasional (BN) to recapture the Bukit Bintang Parliamentary seat which is a DAP stronghold.
The DAP has won the Bukit Bintang seat in the last three general election. Muhyiddin said if given the mandate, the BN would bring about rapid changes to the area which is a popular tourist destination, unlike the opposition who are only good in making promises but have yet to bring about any major changes.
“I did not expect about 500 to 600 BN supporters to attend. This is a pleasant surprise which shows it is not impossible for BN to capture Bukit Bintang.
“BN is contesting not just to win but to bring changes, development and success because we do not want Bukit Bintang to be left behind,” he said when speaking at the Hang Tuah People’s Housing, here, tonight.
He was accompanied by BN candidate for Bukit Bintang, Frankie Gan Joon Zin. Muhyiddin who is also the Federal Territories BN chairman also urged voters in Bukit Bintang to be not fooled by the opposition’s empty promises, especially their manifesto, which promises the moon and stars.
“The opposition has made all sorts of promises, like reducing fuel prices, abolishing toll and many other free offers. But where in the world is there a government that gives everything free.
“Anwar (opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) says so, because he is obsessed with becoming the Prime Minister,” he said.
In the race for the Bukit Bintang seat which has 55,721 voters, Frankie Gan will challenge DAP’s incumbent Fong Kui Lun. Polling for the 13th General Election has been set for May 5.
