Tan Sri Muhyiddin YassinMELAKA, April 29 – Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today urged voters to reject the Opposition’s “change” rallying cry in their campaign trail as the  Barisan Nasional (BN) administration has provided a stable economy, maintained lasting peace and harmony and racial unity.

In imploring the people to ignore the “change” slogan, Muhyiddin said the BN government had developed the nation under a systematic structure, encompassing all core areas of interest, including focusing on the wants of the multiracial populace, their religions and cultures.

“I want to ask change for the better,? what the opposition can guarantee in the situation we are facing now? can they guarantee something better from what we are savouring now.?

“The nation is enjoying lasting peace and harmony, safe and the economy is stable and doing well, the various races are living in unity,” he said when speaking at the 1Malaysia People’s Gathering hosted by Melaka BN at Permatang Duyung today.

Muhyiddin urged the people to give a fresh five-year mandate to BN under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

“For the first time, Najib, as Malaysia’s prime minister, is asking the people to give him a new mandate to provide continuity for his leadership to administer the nation efficiently and propel the country to greater heights

He also questioned what is the need for a change while Malaysians, despite their varying background, have mutual understanding and consensus among the various races under BN’s administration.

“The seriousness of the country’s past and present leadership has ensured there is mutual understanding, respect and consensus on various issues.

“All the races are represented in BN, issues on the rights and privileges of the various races are given serious attention and remedial measures are taken to help the weak race.

“The Opposition is saying if they win in this election, they want to sit down and discuss and solve core issues. However, the fact remains until today they have not come to terms or arrived at an understanding who will be the prime minister if the opposition pact comes to power.

“Also, they have not find solutions to several outstanding major issues.

“(If this is their position) I’m worried that they propose all kinds of things only during election time without explaining one by one the unresolved core issues pending before them.

“Are we prepared to make a decision that can bring disaster to our beloved nation”? he asked some 5,000 attendees at the gathering.
With only five or six days left before polling day on Sunday, Muhyiddin advised BN candidates contesting in this election to go down to the grassroots to meet as many voters as possible and solve the problems they faced.

He also expressed confidence the Melaka BN would achieve a resounding victory with a two-thirds majority as was secured in previous general elections. Also present were Chief Minister and State BN chairman Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam and State BN component party leaders .
