Gov_logo_290px_CIIn his speech, Sri Lanka’s Acting High Commissioner to Malaysia Maj-Gen Lalith Daulagala commended Malaysians for their generosity.

“I have not come across more generous and charitable people than the Malaysians. This is probably because we have many things in common — history, culture, food and more significantly, generosity,” he was quoted as saying in the statement.

He said the common traits as well as the influence of Malaysians of Sri Lankan origin enabled bilateral relations between the two countries to grow from strength to strength.

The event organising Committee chairman Dr Chanaka Rajapakse thanked Malaysian business conglomerates and personalities as well as donors for supporting the charitable cause which was held at Sunway Resort and Spa.

Also present were Federation of Malaysian Sri Lankan Organisations (FOMSO) president Datuk S Kulasegaran, Maxis Bhd joint chief operating officer Suren

Amarasekera, and Axiata Groups senior vice-president Naushad Perera.

Well-wishers were entertained to song and dance performances by Sri Lankan dance troupes and a songstress, who were flown in for the occasion.

Sri Lankan master chef Dr Publis Silva teamed up with Sunway Hotel chefs to prepare Sri Lankan dishes for the well-wishers.
