Stressing that the loyalty of the island’s community had never been in doubt, the deputy prime minister said he was confident the residents could see for themselves and enjoy the current facilities and those which would be implemented by BN.
“I give the assurance that development and changes will continue to be carried out in future, and as the 13th most beautiful island in the world, I want to see more hotels and facilities built,” he said before breaking fast with residents at Pulau Perhentian mosque here.
The function, organised by the Pulau Perhentian mosque committee, in cooperation with the Besut district religious office, was also attended by Second Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh and BN Kuala Besut by-election candidate Tengku Zaihan Che Ku Abd Rahman.
Also present was the deputy prime minister’s wife, Puan Sri Norainee Abd Rahman.
Muhyiddin also sought the cooperation of the residents to cast their votes on July 24, to give support to the BN candidate for development planned by the government to proceed smoothly.
“Our candidate has not only come here today, but I promise he will continue coming after being announced winner to look into the needs of the people,” he said.
Village head Zainudin Mohamad, in welcoming Muhyiddin’s visit, pledged to continue the village tradition of supporting BN by giving it a bigger majority on Wednesday.
Muhyiddin and his delegation later broke fast with traditional dishes such as ‘daging masak singgang’ and ‘salok lada’ before Maghrib prayers.
