“Chin Peng who led the Malayan Communist Party (PKM) was responsible for the deaths of thousands of soldiers, security personnel and our people in defending the sovereignty of this country,” he said in a statement Monday.
Ching Peng, the former PKM secretary-general died in a Bangkok hospital early Monday morning, about one month before his 89th birthday.
“When I was the Home Minister, I did not allow him to return to Malaysia although he was ailing at that time.”
“History has proven that Chin Peng had created chaos to the people of this country.”
Talking to reporters in Kota Kinabalu where he attended the 50th Malaysia Day celebration, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the government would not consider any request from Chin Peng’s family members to bring home his remains for burial.
