New Delhi, June 1 – Law and Justice Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Saturday defended all moves made by the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including issuing of an ordinance to facilitate the appointment of Nripendra Misra as Principal Secretary to the PM.
Prasad, who also holds the Communications and Information Technology portfolio, said in an interview with Karan Thapar of Headlines Today: “It is not just an ordinance, it is about the person. Nripendra Misra is an extraordinary person and has shown integrity in his performance in the past.”
“Modiji chose the best person for the post. There is no doubt about his capability. He made TRAI at par with other similar bodies,” said Prasad.
Asked about HRD Smriti Irani’s educational qualifications and discrepancy in the educational qualifications furnished by her to the Election Commission, Prasad said, “She has already clarified on the issue that people should judge her by her skills. Her parliamentary skills are better than many PhD ministers.”
“One qualification is by degree and the other qualification is by having wisdom, being aware and being informed. I think she has everything in her.”
