New Delhi, July 3 – BJP General Secretary Amit Shah has been accorded a ‘Z-plus’ category security by the Home Ministry following high threat perception, official sources said on Wednesday.
Shah, a close associate of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will be guarded by paramilitary CRPF commandos round the clock and armed guards will be posted at his residence, they said.
He will enjoy the high level of security across the country wherever he travels. The BJP leader, who was instrumental in the party’s landslide victory in Uttar Pradesh in Lok Sabha elections, has so far been under the security of Gujarat Police.
Shah, a former Minister of State for Home of Gujarat, was arrested in 2010 in connection with the alleged fake encounter killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh, his wife Kauser Bi and Sheikh’s associate Tulsiram Prajapati.
