New Delhi, February 5 – Currently, the latest version of Google’s operating system is Android 5.0.2. But with the next update, Google wants to take a jump in terms of its naming scheme. The next update to Android Lollipop may give it Android 5.1 moniker even though the 0.1 releases are reserved for versions that contain big changes.
For now we don’t know what sort of changes Google will implement in the Android 5.1. But it is possible that these changes will be under the hood, will not be significant and will most probably deal with existing bugs in the Android Lollipop.
The fact that Android 5.1 is real can be ascertained from Google’s teasers for Android One phones in Indonesia. The company has said that the Android One phones would be launched in Indonesia with Android 5.1.
The Android One phones in India are also likely to get Android Lollipop and it is possible that these devices will also be given Android 5.1. Nexus devices, particularly Nexus 5 and the Nexus 6, should also get the Android 5.1 soon.
