New Delhi, March 27 – Cupertino tech major Apple may launch as many as three new iPhones this year. A new Digitimes report that cites industry insiders suggests that Apple maybe looking to launch three new iPhones-the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus and iPhone 6C-in 2015.
The company launched two iPhone devices last year: the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, handsets that have received good response from both buyers and critics around the globe. According to the report, Apple is expected to partner Wistron to assemble the iPhone 6C while Foxconn and Pegatron will most likely be making the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.
Of the three, the iPhone 6C is likely to be a smaller 4-incher. The report adds that all the three yet-to-be announced iPhones will feature LTPS panels. Japan Display and LG will be supplying the display panels for the iPhone 6S while the iPhone 6S Plus and iPhone 6C will come with panels made by Sharp in addition to Japan Display and LG Display, says the report.
Processor wise, the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will be powered by Apple’s new A9 chip, while the iPhone 6C will come with the company’s A8 chip under the hood, adds the report. Further, Corning Gorilla Glass protection, NFC connectivity and fingerprint scanning are also expected to feature in Apple’s new iPhones.
Earlier reports suggested that Apple maybe working on a new three-sensor imaging technology for its next generation iPhone, something that could make it an even better camcorder. Reportedly,
Apple has been granted a patent for a “Digital camera with light splitter” that could allow the company to pack in an advanced three-sensor based camera module in its next iPhone. This could eventually bring it at par with camcorders of renowned companies like Canon, Panasonic and Philips that use such technology.
