Putra Jaya – The Socio-Economic Development Unit for the Indian Community (SEDIC), formed under the Prime Minister’s Department responsible over the socio-economic development of Malaysian Indians, wishes to announce the launch of a new brand comprising of change of name, vision and mission.
The unit will now be known as MITRA (The Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit ). MITRA means companion, synergy, spirit , covenant, or alliance.
This rebranding move was announced by SEDIC Director-General S.Letchumanan (pic) in a press statement released today.
Transforming Malaysian Indians towards a viable, resilient and inclusive community shall be MITRA’s vision while its mission is to empower the Malaysian Indian community for sustainable growth in education, economy, social well-being and human excellence, the statement noted.
MITRA’s key result areas (KRA) shall comprise of education, social welfare, economy and career, policy planning, identity and inclusiveness and last but not least, special projects.
In all, rebranding from SEDIC to MITRA embodies a unit in Prime Minister’s Department which is re-inventing and re-engineering itself, but is still very committed to its community social behavioural platform and economic roots.
The new identity will focus and build upon its integrity values while improving it’s strategic and operational effectiveness.
