LANGKAWI: Visitors of Crocodile Adventureland Langkawi can now enjoy a different kind of experience at its new addition Jurassic Croc.

From getting up-close with two species of “genial” dinosaur mascot – Velociraptor and Dilophosaurus – to taking selfies with the prehistoric creatures, other exciting activities await visitors at the park in Jalan Teluk Datai here.

Apart from being greeted by the two dinosaur species, visitors can get a chance to see an animatronic 15.24-metre long (50 feet) prehistoric crocodile species, Sarcosuchus.

Jurassic Croc, which first opened its doors to visitors in December last year, also offers various dinosaur-themed activities to visitors.

Taman Buaya Langkawi general manager Adam Fuaad said Jurassic Croc was introduced as an added value to Crocodile Adventureland Langkawi which had been recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records as the country’s largest crocodile farm and had received an excellence award from a global travel review website, TripAdvisor, earlier this year.

“Jurassic Croc ‘brings back’ the pre-historic crocodile Sarcosuchus through animatronic technology. The Sarcosuchus or Super Croc is the largest animatronic crocodile ever exhibited in the world.

“In addition, we will also introduce other animals that lived during the Jurassic period,” he told Bernama.

Crocodile Adventureland Langkawi boasts more than 4,000 crocodiles of six species including Tomistoma, Siamese, Guinea and Saltwater.

In addition to Jurassic Croc, the park also has other attractions such as the largest crocodile in captivity in the country known as “Basar”, a giant male crocodile measuring 4.6-metre long (15.3ft) and weighing almost a tonne.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to watch crocodile feeding demonstration, experience crocodile ‘fishing’ as well as other exciting activities at Malaysia’s largest crocodile park.
