Kuala Lumpur – Former MIC Secretary General Datuk S.Murugesan, since his appearance and speech at the Kongress Rakyat organised Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, has received a barrage of criticisms from MIC and Datuk Sri G.Palanivel’s faction. Ironically, he was strongly aligned to Palanivel’s faction during the party’s struggles but now faces criticisms from Palanivel’s faction which claims to be supporting Prime Minister Najib’s leadership.

Murugesan-speaking-Peoples CongressMIC Deputy President Datuk Seri S.K.Devamany also issued a statement equating Murugesan’s presence in Kongress Rakyat as “Palanivel faction’s covert courting of opposition”.

Replying to the criticisms Murugesan said he acted according to his conscience and has stood up to be counted as a citizen of the country.

Below is the full text of his Facebook posting:

“My response to both factions of MIC who are trying to put a political spin on my decision to speak at Save Malaysia Gathering at SACC, Shah Alam on 27th March, 2016.

This is my response.

” I acted in accordance with my own conscience and am doing what I think is right in the interest of the nation.

Dr. Subramaniam’s faction is again playing politics with the future of our country by trying to associate my action with that of Dato Sri Palanivel’s team.

I am also being attacked by DSGP’s faction.

Both factions should stop bickering and look at the crisis faced by our Nation and the welfare of the Indian Community.

Dato Seri SK Devamany immediately declared that I cease to be a member of MIC by virtue of Article 91 of the MIC Constitution, the same Article they used to declare DSGP not a member of MIC.

In any event I am no longer a member MIC as I did not file my nomination for my branch in the election held by Dr. Subramaniam’s faction. And the election held by DSGP’s faction is not recognised by ROS.

There, that’s my position vis a vis MIC.

I have stood up to be counted as a citizen of this beloved country.”
